Tadano cranes are used by a wide range of companies, many of which are in construction, mining, steel, maritime, shipping, telecommunications, and energy. However, a broad spectrum of customers use these cranes to serve their needs, and earlier this year a company in India that focuses on fertilizer and its many product uses took delivery of a rough terrain crane and toured Tadano’s facilities.
Matix Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited is one of India’s youngest and fastest-growing fertilizer companies. The company is a major provider of products utilizing urea, the organic compound used as a nitrogen fertilizer for agriculture. Their production plant requires many heavy lifting jobs with several forklifts, aerial work platforms, and even a few cranes already in use.
Recently, Matix added to their fleet with a GR-800EX rough terrain crane, bringing a new level of capability and reliability to handle their heavy lifting needs. The new crane, delivered earlier this year, will be used primarily at their Urea production plant in West Bengal.
Mr. Debasish Saha, Senior Manager at Matix, noted that they were initially attracted to Tadano in part because the cranes are “suitable to our specifications” and are offered for a competitive price. Among others, Matix worked with Tadano India Senior Manager Mr. Prasad Bhong to assess options and determine the proper model for their needs.
“Tadano products are reliable and rugged,” Mr. Saha said, “In addition, their capabilities, maneuverability, speed, and safety features are all excellent.”
The GR-800EX is a powerful Rough Terrain Crane with 80-ton lifting capacity. It offers a 5-section full-power boom with lengths ranging from 12m to 47m; the boom length, according to Mr. Saha, was an attractive feature that factored significantly into their buying decision.
The crane is designed to operate in all road conditions, both on uneven terrain and within narrow spaces. The Tadano AML-C monitors outrigger extended length and automatically programs the corresponding “Rated Lifting Capacities” table to help ensure operational safety. Another feature, Eco Mode, adds energy efficiencies and reduces emissions. The Hello-Net machine data logging and monitoring system connects to the web for easy, mobile monitoring. Furthermore, its compact 2-axle carrier offers superior maneuverability, allowing Matix to navigate their jobsite with relative ease.

Matix had a plan of factory acceptance test at the time of purchasing and sent Mr. Saha to Japan to Tadano’s Shido Plant, where GR-800EX models are manufactured. He expressed satisfaction after witnessing the overall process and inspection procedures, highly praising Tadano’s quality and attention to both detail and service to the customer.

He also saw evidence of Tadano’s continuing innovation. “We observed that Tadano is offering several features which we have not even thought of having,” noted Mr. Saha. “We learned about them and understand the importance of these features.”
“The local cranes are priced lower compared to Tadano; however, they are nowhere near the level of quality and performance,” said Mr. Saha. “In today’s working conditions, we need the machine to meet our expectations, have a strong lifting performance, and be of good quality while ensuring adequate safety measures. We found all these in Tadano cranes.”
“The after-sales support has been excellent, including the training. My overall impression of Tadano as a company is excellent,” he said, “This is evident from proper 5S being maintained at manufacturing level, the company’s commitment to deliver quality product at competitive price. and adhering to all its commitments.”
“I think Tadano Rough Terrain Cranes are truly next generation cranes in terms of technology, performance, safety, ease of operation and on top of that, low cost of operation and maintenance.”
Tadano invites customers worldwide to visit their facilities in Japan, experience plant tours. and meet with those who design and construct their high-quality cranes. Your local Tadano sales representative or authorized dealer can work to arrange a tour according to your needs.
