Boskalis receives Tadano GR-1000EX-4 rough terrain crane

Boskalis, a leading international service provider in dredging, offshore energy, and maritime services, continues to invest in reliable equipment to support its global operations.

At its Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Vlaardingen, Boskalis has relied for 23 years on a Tadano GR-600EXL to handle heavy equipment such as pumps, constructions, and containers. This crane has been central to day-to-day logistics, supporting the distribution of everything from small consumables to oversized machinery shipped worldwide.

In early September, Boskalis took delivery of a Tadano GR-1000EX-4 at its Vlaardingen CDC. The crane was handed over by Richard Beenen, Tadano Sales Manager. Compared to the outgoing GR-600EXL, the new model provides a higher lifting capacity and updated safety systems, allowing the team to handle increasingly heavy and complex loads. The GR-1000EX-4 is equipped with a 50.9-meter full power main boom — the longest in the 100-tonne class — offering operators excellent reach and radius within a compact footprint. A Cummins engine powers the crane, while additional counterweight improves lifting performance. The redesigned model also includes operator-focused features such as a tilting cabin for improved visibility and a side ladder that converts into steps for safer access.

Reflecting on the handover, Chris van Wijk, Logistic manager at Boskalis said: “Our previous Tadano crane served us reliably for more than two decades. That proven quality was one of the key reasons we chose Tadano again. With the GR-1000EX-4, we are confident we can continue to work safely and efficiently for many years to come.”
