The new Tadano AS-23MJ aerial work platform

Tadano, a global leader in lifting solutions, will unveil the first wheeled model in its mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) range with the debut of the AS-23MJ telescopic boom lift with jib at Bauma 2025. Designed for maximum reliability and performance, the AS-23MJ is built to handle demanding applications while maintaining high utilization and reducing service needs.

Leveraging its decades of experience in the crane market, Tadano is bringing its proven approach to design and engineering precision with its MEWP portfolio.

“Tadano quality is the foundation of rock-solid durability,” says Robbert Kreber, sales leader for Tadano Utility Products in Europe. “Our quality extends beyond our established lean manufacturing and production systems in the factory — it is in the details and the process that elevate the excellence of the AS-23MJ’s overall design.”

This commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and reliability envelopes every stage of design, starting at the component selection and supplier level. “Tadano does not buy it, build it, and then test it,” Kreber says. “Each supplier is carefully chosen for their expertise and reputation, followed by a detailed supplier quality system check, before a part has even been purchased and tested.”

By relying on rigorous testing protocols, Kreber says Tadano has created a telescopic boom lift model with the AS-23MJ that fleet owners and operators can depend on for consistent productivity.

“Our testing goes well beyond strength and stability requirements for safety,” Kreber says. “The results provide confirmation of the durability, smoothness, drivability, and customer experience where Tadano’s value truly shines through.”

Engineered for Endurance & Execution

Built to last, the AS-23MJ can withstand the most challenging jobs at height. Its features include:

  • 22.9-m maximum working height and 16.7-m maximum horizontal outreach, ideal for accessing difficult-to-reach areas.
  • A three-section synchronized telescopic boom with a hydraulic jib, offering enhanced manoeuvrability for confined or complex job site environments.
  • Foam-filled tires, four-wheel drive (4WD), 45% gradeability, and 5-degree tilt capability, enabling movement across rough terrain with ease.
  • A 36.7-kW Kubota V2607 diesel engine, providing power for a maximum drive speed of 4.8 km/h.
  • A dual-capacity platform (340kg/250 kg) measuring 1.95 x 0.91 x 1.1 m, allowing operators to safely work with sufficient space for tools and materials.
  • 360-degree continuous slewing and 180-degree platform rotation (90 degrees left/90 degrees right), maximizing efficiency by reducing repositioning time.

The model is also equipped with Tadano’s enclosed cable management system, reducing the risk of external damage to support a higher utilization rate.

“It’s impossible to swing the cable track into an obstruction that leads to machine downtime,” Kreber says. “The cable management system is further protected by debris guards that help keep the boom’s integrity intact.”

Safety features include dual-sensing load monitoring, automatic speed reduction, slow stop functions, emergency stop controls, foot switch with enabling mechanism, and automatic oscillation control. Optional 2.53 x 0.89 x 1.1 m platform, 230V AC platform outlet, drive enable system, and grey non-marking tires are available.

Sister Model AS-23MC with Crawler Base Expands Options

Complementing the wheeled AS-23MJ, Tadano is also introducing the AS-23MC, a crawler version tailored for sensitive environments, with both models available for the European market.

Offering a 17.8-m horizontal outreach and a dual-lifting capacity system (450 kg/250 kg) that accommodates up to three occupants in its platform, the AS-23MC rounds out Tadano’s ability to provide solutions for diverse lifting applications.

The AS-23MC’s advanced crawler track system features 500-mm steel tracks with grey non-marking pads that maintain low ground pressure with 57.5 kPa in traveling position. This allows the AS-23MC to work effectively across mud and sand, with a maximum gradeability of 57%.

Visitors to Bauma 2025 can see the AS-23MJ at Booth FS.1205 and speak with Tadano product specialists about how its reliability and performance can enhance operations.
